Classic Trains magazineClassic Trains magazine is just out with their Summer 2015 issue and there is an excellent article on the Nickel Plate Road, with lots of photos of the Berkshire 2-8-4s along Lake Erie taken in March of 1957. The photos show Dunkirk and Pomfret, New York, Conneaut, Ohio and several photos taken in North East, PA, one of which you can see above.

Many railfans in this area remember the Nickel Plate running along the lake and these photos give a little flavor of those years gone by.

If you don’t subscribe to Classic Trains magazine, then stop by at the Lake Shore Railway museum gift shop and pick up the current issue. It’s a good one.
